How team-colour presets work

What F1 Tools team presets actually change — gradients, logos, accents — and why they keep graphics looking like Formula 1 instead of generic posters.

Every generator on F1 Tools starts from the same idea: pick a team first. The preset is not a sticker; it rewires the colour system of the graphic.

What a preset changes

Depending on the tool:

Tool Colours Logo Other
Breaking News Dual-stop gradient background Optional team mark Text contrast suggestions
Race Winner Large colour field / blocks Team branding in the layout Pose packs filtered by team
Starting Grid Per-driver accent bars Per-slot team logos Defaults for each seat
Stewards Notice Document stays FIA-neutral Not team-branded Content is textual, not liveried

Breaking News and Race Winner are where presets matter most visually.

Why gradients, not flat fills

A flat #e10600 rectangle feels like a PowerPoint. Broadcast cards usually run a subtle two-stop wash so the photo and type have depth. Presets encode that wash per team so you are not inventing “Ferrari-ish red” every time.

You can still override colours manually on Breaking News if you need a one-off (charity livery, special event). The preset is the default, not a lock.

Logos

Presets load the 2026 mark variants shipped with the site (including light-on-dark versions where needed). Observations:

  • White logos on dark / saturated fields read cleanest
  • Uploading a random PNG from Google Images often introduces the wrong year mark or a watermark
  • Custom logo upload exists for when you genuinely need something else

Grid accents

On the starting grid, colour is per row. That lets you scan “papaya / red / silver” without reading every name — useful when the carousel is viewed at thumbnail size.

Design rule I stick to

If the story is about a team, use their preset. If the story is about the sport (stewards, calendar, generic meme), stay neutral or use the F1 red/black language — do not randomly apply Alpine blue to a non-Alpine joke.
