Making a team radio quote graphic step by step
A walkthrough of the F1 Tools team radio generator: broadcast and portrait layouts, driver and team fields, quote sizing and the PNG export sizes.
A team radio graphic is a short quote, a driver, a team and a radio-style card. The Team radio generator gives you two layouts for that card, and the layout you pick decides which fields are available.
Pick a layout
The Driver tab starts with a Graphic layout switch:
- 2026 broadcast is a fixed card with the driver name, number, team logo and message, coloured by the team accent. Export is 2160 × 2880.
- Portrait quote adds driver artwork, a header label, a session line and a backdrop colour. Export is 2160 × 2700.
Uploading driver artwork switches the layout to Portrait quote automatically, because the broadcast card does not show artwork.
Choose the driver
The Driver preset select includes the 2026 drivers and the F2 drivers. Picking a preset fills in the name, the number, the team colours and the team logo, and it clears any custom artwork.
Edit the name in the Driver name field. It holds up to 30 characters and is forced to uppercase. The Number field accepts up to three digits, and it only appears in the broadcast layout.
Write the message
The radio message is a textarea with a limit of 120 characters. It is shown in uppercase. The quote text is sized by length:
- Up to 60 characters renders at 48px.
- Between 61 and 95 characters renders at 42px.
- Above 95 characters renders at 36px.
Shorter lines look stronger on the card. Portrait quote also has a Header label (up to 32 characters), a Session detail line (up to 52 characters) and a Team name field (up to 34 characters).
Frame the driver artwork
In Portrait quote, the driver artwork can be dragged on the preview, zoomed from 55% to 175%, nudged with the position pad or centred. Arrow keys nudge the focused artwork. The Use preset button clears the upload and returns to the preset image.
The broadcast card does not render driver artwork, so reframing needs the Portrait quote layout.
Set the team colours and logo
The Team tab has a Team preset. Picking a team sets the radio accent, which is the primary colour, and the backdrop, which is the secondary colour. The Backdrop field only appears in Portrait quote. A Reset to team button appears when the colours differ from the preset.
Use Upload custom in the Team logo section to replace the preset mark. The editor recommends transparent PNGs and says images stay in your browser.
Export
Export saves a PNG at 2160 × 2880 for the broadcast layout or 2160 × 2700 for Portrait quote. The filename is built from the driver name, such as f1-team-radio-example-driver.png. The background is a fixed near-black, so the card edges match whichever team you pick.
Shared links
The layout, driver, name, number, team, text fields, colours and artwork position are stored in the URL, so copying the address keeps the draft. Uploaded artwork and logos are not stored in the URL, so a shared link shows the preset images again.
What you still edit manually
You write the quote. Keep it accurate, and use a placeholder such as EXAMPLE MESSAGE while you test the layout. Do not publish a line that you cannot source.
In Portrait quote, the waveform bars and the Radio transmission and Ch. 04 · 08.2 sec lines are fixed in the layout, so the editor cannot change them. Set the header label and session detail to suit your post.
