Cadillac F1 Completes 2026 Preparations

Cadillac F1 confirms technical partnerships, driver lineup, and completes chassis construction at Banbury as the team's first ever Formula 1 test approaches.

Cadillac Formula 1 Team has finalized preparations for its debut season, becoming the first American constructor to enter the sport since the mid-1980s.

The team secured full FIA approval last month and has completed its chassis construction at the Banbury facility. Technical partnerships are in place with an established power unit supplier, though Cadillac maintains its own design autonomy under F1 regulations.

Driver announcements came in November. The lineup pairs an experienced campaigner with a rookie making the step up from Formula 2. Team principal Graeme Lowdon confirmed shakedown runs at Silverstone are scheduled for early January.

The entry marks the sport's expansion to 11 teams. Existing outfits have raised concerns about prize money dilution, but F1 commercial rights holder Liberty Media negotiated a revenue-sharing agreement that protects current teams while accommodating the new arrival.

Cadillac's presence is expected to boost F1's North American market. The team plans a permanent move to a new US-based headquarters within three years as infrastructure develops.

Why this entry matters

An 11th team changes the competitive landscape and the political balance inside the sport. A new constructor adds fresh engineering approaches, expands the grid, and increases the pool of available seats for drivers moving up from junior categories.

For fans, a Cadillac-backed outfit signals even deeper investment in the North American audience. It also introduces a new brand identity that can shape sponsor interest, content themes, and on-track storytelling as the 2026 regulations kick in.

What to watch next

The first shakedown miles will reveal how well the car packaging and cooling concepts align with the 2026 power unit era. Pay close attention to reliability updates in early tests, since that is where new teams often find their biggest time gains before the opening race.
